The board reviewed revised policy language on overnight use of alternate lodging such as bed-and-breakfasts and large private homes. Executive Secretary Vaughn Dosko said the language was developed with Risk Management and district leadership and requires lodging purchases to be made through the school purchase-order process rather than booster clubs; the language also includes safeguards prohibiting the co-mingling of opposing genders in private spaces.
President Jesse Settlemyer said the language "speaks to most of that" when applied to short-term rentals such as Airbnb, but he noted the wording may not fully address scenarios where teams stay in gymnasiums or other school facilities. Board members suggested minor tweaks could be recommended, and schools with unusual needs should apply common-sense judgment or seek alternate arrangements.
