The Amelia County Board of Supervisors voted 3–2 on March 25 to authorize the county administrator to execute the VDOT Appendix A agreement and related documents for the Route 38 Five Forks Road sidewalk project (UPC 125357).
County Administrator Eric S. Pollitt told the Board the project’s first stage is budgeted in the current CIP fund and that remaining costs are included in next year’s recommended budget. Supervisor H. Joseph Easter, who moved the authorization, said residents had expressed excitement about the project and “example was given of the usage of it during the Tractor Parade last weekend.” Supervisors Dexter Jones and David M. Felts joined Easter in voting in favor; Supervisors Todd Robinson and Benjamin Morris voted against the motion.
Supporters noted the sidewalk’s expected community use during events and pedestrian safety along Route 38; opponents raised concern about timing and budget priorities. The Board authorized the County Administrator to execute the agreement and any associated documents needed to advance the project.
