Irma Munoz Daniels, principal of Millennium High School, presented the school’s state-of-school report to the Piedmont board, highlighting gains in English reading interventions, an ongoing WASC self-study, and plans to build math readiness through targeted assessments and classroom strategies.
"In this past school year, over 73 percent of our students met or exceeded the CAASPP English language arts standards," Munoz Daniels said, noting that the school is shifting its focus to math readiness while continuing to build on reading gains. She outlined plans for a graduate portfolio, strengthened academy supports, and increased recruitment activities including information nights and visits to middle school classes.
The principal reported current enrollment of 62 students and said the school’s comfortable capacity is roughly 70 to 75, making targeted outreach a priority. She also noted that Millennium’s parent club recently achieved 100% participation in the district giving campaign, and that the school was recognized by a local parent press as a top alternative high school in the East Bay.
Why it matters: Millennium is a small, choice-based high school whose outcomes and enrollment directly affect district programming and budget planning. Board members and parents praised student leadership and recommended showcasing Falcon meetings to prospective families to increase applications.
The presentation closed with an invitation to a 25th-anniversary celebration on April 18 and an offer to answer board questions about staffing diversity and hiring panels.
