Educators and campaign leaders urged Piedmont residents to vote yes on Measure P, telling the school board that the parcel tax would provide roughly $2,600,000 in annual revenue and allow the district to give staff a planned 4.5% salary increase in the 2025–26 school year without additional budget cuts.
"As educators, we urge everyone in Piedmont who hasn't voted yet to please vote yes on Measure P for Piedmont schools and Piedmont's children," Dr. Marks said, describing a recent neighborhood rally where parents and students showed visible support. She and campaign co-chairs described strong grassroots momentum, including students waving "Yes on P" signs and parents raising funds and organizing lawn signs.
Campaign co-chair Claire Arno thanked volunteers and local organizations and described high community turnout: "People just sort of came out of the woodwork, which was just absolutely amazing," she said. The speakers credited parents clubs, the Piedmont Education Foundation and local press for amplifying the campaign's message.
Why it matters: School leaders told the board that Measure P’s revenue would be used to stabilize staffing and programming in a district that has seen tight budgets and to help recruit and retain teachers. Supporters said the measure would preserve classroom offerings and help the district remain competitive with neighboring districts on staff pay.
The board did not take action on Measure P; the comments were part of the meeting’s communications and announcements section.
