Camille, who presented housing updates for DSPD, said the agency is replacing its housing quarterly meeting with individualized 1‑on‑1 trainings for providers. “We are replacing our housing quarterly meeting with our 1 on 1 training that we are offering to all providers,” she said, and invited providers to request trainings by emailing cBowen@utah.gov.
She said the 1‑on‑1 sessions have had a strong response, are informational and help providers resolve silos and local barriers that limit clients’ access to housing. Camille noted that even organizations that do not directly provide housing can benefit because housing and services often must be combined for people to live successfully in the community.
During Q&A a provider confirmed these trainings are appropriate for new staff and those focused on service delivery rather than housing specialists, and DSPD staff recommended signing up for a 1‑on‑1 session to review application and voucher processes. Camille said peer‑to‑peer learning and participation by support coordinators are planned for future trainings.
Why it matters: Access to affordable housing and coordination between housing and service providers are common barriers to community integration; individualized training aims to equip provider staff with practical resources and referral pathways.
Providers were given Camille’s email (cBowen@utah.gov) to schedule trainings.
