Assembly Member Warner presented the resolution and said, "we have 73 women serving. That's about 0.333 of the total body — 51 in this house and 22 in the other house." Warner called attention to historical firsts — Ida Sammis, Mary Lilly, Bessie Buchanan and others — while urging colleagues to memorialize the month.
Other members spoke in support. "This month is about correcting that narrative, amplifying voices, and acknowledging impact," Assembly Member Giglio said, urging the body to use the commemoration as a moment to educate and take action. Assembly Member People Stokes noted ongoing institutional efforts, including work toward a Smithsonian American Women's History Museum, and praised organizers and caucus leadership for the resolution.
The resolution was adopted by voice vote after the floor exchange. Members framed the measure as ceremonial recognition with the intent to highlight women's contributions across history and to state policy discussions going forward.
