Police Chief Ryan Hanson requested authorization to post openings for a part-time police officer and for a full-time 7th officer. The council unanimously approved advertising for a part-time officer across multiple platforms (Police Post Board, Facebook, League of Minnesota Cities, city website). Chief Hanson also reported department activity: 233 calls between May 14–28, including 59 traffic-related calls and 92 assists, and noted upcoming training for staff.
On the request for a 7th full-time officer the council voted to table the proposal until the second meeting in July to await clarity on possible Local Government Aid (LGA) reductions from the state. Council Member Clint Krueger made the motion to table; it was seconded and approved unanimously.
