Amelia County board hears $13.18M in CIP requests, staff recommends $4.02M for FY2027

County Administrator Eric S. Pollitt presented the proposed FY2027 Capital Improvement Program to the Amelia County Board of Supervisors, saying the county received $13,180,225 in capital requests from departments and staff recommended $4,017,110 for inclusion in the FY2027 CIP. "The FY2027 CIP recommendations balance fiscal responsibility with the need to maintain critical infrastructure, replace aging fleet assets, and address priority facility improvements," Pollitt told the board.
The bulk of requests came from the local school system, which staff said is prioritizing replacement of HVAC equipment. Other recommended projects include a generator at the Mannboro Fire Station, library roof replacement, a storage facility at the Paineville Fire Station, design engineering for a press box replacement, construction of pickleball and basketball courts and a permanent restroom at the recreation facility behind the library, elementary field drainage improvements, county park fence replacement, Phase 2 of a sidewalk project coordinated with VDOT, and administration building basement renovation. Pollitt also described a new Capital Reserve Maintenance program for projects between $10,000 and $50,000 and clarified the county’s $50,000 threshold for CIP projects and fleet management definitions for titled vehicles.
