Board honors local museum and student who led pledge, hears historical society invitation

Trustees recognized Destiny Witron, an Arroyo High School senior who led the Pledge and placed at state wrestling, and heard an invitation from the El Monte Historical Society to a March 16 open house; the board presented Destiny with a certificate and lapel pin.
The meeting opened with a flag salute led by Destiny Witron from Arroyo High School. Principal Flores and coach Con Tran described Witron's recent performance at the state wrestling tournament (placed eighth in a 32‑person bracket) and presented a coach's endorsement; the board presented a certificate of recognition and a lapel pin.
During public comment, Cathy Heredia (Almani/El Monte Historical Society) and Charles Hoffman invited the board and community to an open house on March 16 and described museum exhibits, volunteer operations and upcoming school group visits. Trustees thanked the speakers and encouraged attendance.
"She qualified for states, and she wrestled at a 100 pounds... and she did end up placing 8th in the state," coach Con Tran said as the board presented recognition to Destiny. The board president added a congratulatory message noting district pride in student leadership and athletic achievement.
