An attendee asked whether the town could recommend contractors after the storm. Lisa Ritchie said the town cannot officially recommend specific contractors but can share which contractors are licensed in Lyons; she offered to provide that list or check a specific name on request. Tim Maroney recommended homeowners use local contractors familiar with area codes and to verify licensing and certificates of insurance before work begins.
Maroney cautioned about so-called "taillight" warranties from out-of-state companies that leave homeowners no local recourse and advised residents to insist on written warranties and not to pay the full contract amount up front. On insurance deductibles he noted many policies use a structure-based roof deductible (commonly about 2% of structure value) and described a buy-down option, saying homeowners can sometimes pay roughly $300–$400 to reduce annual premiums and lower the out-of-pocket deductible to a level such as $2,500. He also suggested resources including the Colorado Roofing Association and the Better Business Bureau to screen contractors.
