Floodplain permits add 2–3 weeks to roofing work, Lyons staff say

During the webinar a resident who identified their property as being "in the Confluence" asked about floodplain development permit requirements for repairs. Lisa Ritchie said the floodplain development permit is a FEMA requirement and that timing depends on floodplain degree and documentation. "Typically, those are going to add about, excuse me, 2 to 3 weeks, before we're going to be able to issue your permit," she said, and she urged residents to contact the town engineer, Justin Doles, for specific guidance.

Ritchie said an elevation certificate is often required and sometimes is already on file; homeowners should expect a separate application for the floodplain workflow. She offered to put her email and the engineer's contact in the chat so residents could follow up and cautioned that floodplain checks are one of the first checkboxes in their permit workflow. The town will provide guidance and accept documentation as part of the roofing-permit process.
