The New York State Assembly voted unanimously to adopt a package of ceremonial resolutions that memorialize proclamations to Governor Kathy Hochul. Adopted items included Stiff Person Syndrome Awareness Day (03/15/2025), Transit Employee Appreciation Day (03/18/2025), and a resolution recognizing March 17–23, 2025, as Neurodiversity Celebration Week.
Sponsor remarks highlighted the rationale for the neurodiversity resolution. "Neurodiversity is the understanding that there is no, quote, correct, unquote way for a brain to work," said Mister Levine during floor remarks, urging colleagues to continue improving accommodations and reducing stigma; he cited a 2024 YouGov survey showing nearly 20% of American adults identify as neurodivergent and noted elevated unemployment in the community. Members offered supportive remarks and the resolution passed by voice vote.
Other proclamations on the consent calendar were also adopted by voice vote. The Clerk read each resolution and the Chair put them to the Chamber; all were adopted without recorded opposition.
