County Attorney Mori Josephson told the body the contract "is subject to automatic renewal, as, as of May 28," and said the resolution is intended to provide timely notice so the county can reallocate any unused GIVE grant funds within the current grant year. Josephson said the termination language in the resolution states that the termination "shall not constitute grant conditions." The motion to approve termination was moved by Travis Brooks and seconded by Irene Weiser.
The roll-call tally recorded 12 votes in favor and one opposed (Randy Brown). After the vote the presiding official said, "So that does pass." Josephson said a letter providing timely notice to Flock would be issued by either her, Corso, or both of them.
The resolution directs staff to notify the vendor and signals the county's intention to continue participating in GIVE grant cycles using alternative policing strategies or technologies. The legislature did not adopt a specific replacement technology in the resolution; officials said they plan to reallocate funds if necessary and to present alternatives to the body for future consideration.
