Rachel Auslin introduced the resolution and described its aims: New York for All would restrict state and local law enforcement from sharing sensitive information with federal immigration authorities without judicial process and would prohibit 287(g) deputization agreements; Dignity Not Detention would bar state and local contracts with ICE for civil immigration detention and prevent private immigrant-detention centers in New York. Rachel reported confirmation from local law enforcement leadership that they were familiar with and supportive of the legislation's principles. The motion passed on the floor by a 13-3 vote.
The resolution is an expression of county support for state action and does not itself change county enforcement protocols. County staff and Sheriff's Office representatives said they are aware of the bills and indicated alignment with many of the principles.
