Board OKs easements, ROW dedications to speed construction of new elementary school

The Board approved a package of easements and a public right‑of‑way dedication Nov. 6 to support construction of a new elementary school adjacent to Fire Station 11. Facilities and Environmental Services Chief Bill Struthers told the board the easements will allow widening of Founders Place, installation of sidewalks and curb ramps, utility connections and additional drainage inlets to handle added stormwater from the widened road.
Struthers said the easements will save the school system material construction cost and avoid longer utility routes. "We've reviewed it with County stakeholders and Albemarle County Fire and Rescue — they have no concerns with this for facilities at the end point," Struthers said. The board adopted the recommended resolution and authorized the County Executive to execute deeds and related documents.
