The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors approved a special-use permit for Piedmont Grounds Management (SP2020) to locate a landscape-contractor operation at 4842 Richmond Road, near the Fluvanna County line. Staff recommended approval with conditions including applying industrial setbacks, a 30-foot use buffer, replanting previously cleared stream-buffer areas and Architectural Review Board review for entrance-corridor design.
Planner Kevin McCollum described the site and staff—s recommended conditions; applicant—s representative Kelsey Schlein and owner Jordan Kaufman presented operational plans and said most equipment would be stored indoors, with materials (mulch, gravel) stored in a screened area behind the building. Kaufman said fuel for equipment would be managed via bulk, self-contained tanks from a fuel vendor rather than reopening the existing gas pumps on site.
No members of the public signed up to speak at the hearing. After the presentation and Q&A about access, buffers and replanting, the board adopted the staff-recommended resolution approving the special-use permit by roll call.
