Supervisors press EDA to align workforce training and affordable-housing roles with economic goals

One supervisor urged that career technical education and clearer pathways be "baked into" planning so students graduating from local schools and PVCC have concrete employment paths with local employers. Jeff Richardson noted recent staffing and governance moves intended to strengthen county ties to PVCC and other education partners, including the county—s newly approved chief operating officer who will sit on the PVCC board.
Board members also discussed whether the EDA should serve as a pass-through or administrator for housing funding (the county currently lacks a separate housing authority) and emphasized avoiding duplication with human services and existing workforce programs. Staff said the intent is to convene partners and clarify where EDA involvement adds value versus where partners already deliver services.
