Principal Megan Allsinger told the council Lincoln supports the change because it creates a predictable traffic pattern and improves accessibility for families and first responders.
Councilors and staff agreed to monitor speeds before and after implementation (portable counters and possibly a flashing school beacon) and to tweak curb, parking and lane configurations if needed. The ordinance was adopted after the council waived the usual three readings and voted final passage 7–0.
Why it matters: Staff said the permanent one‑way should reduce driver confusion at peak times, improve pedestrian crossing conditions for students and allow the school to redeploy staff and crossing guards more efficiently.
