The board discussed an abandoned property on Crackers Neck that Trustee Ross said had been purchased by Bud Barnett. Ross told trustees Barnett has contacted the village about the need for a culvert at his driveway and has hired Kevin Wheetley to assist with cleanup. President Shingleton said she had already asked Dan to meet with Barnett and Wheetley to discuss the best approach.
The board also noted it will attend a regional Housing Workshop in Marion on Oct. 28 to learn about vacant properties, condemnations, demolitions, ordinances and code enforcement; President Shingleton, Clerk Leslie Yambert, and Trustee Elaine Ross plan to attend. The minutes do not record a formal enforcement action or funding decision at the Oct. 7 meeting.
