City Attorney updates council on legal claims, FBI funds and development projects

City Attorney Beth Anne Childs updated the council on several legal and project matters. She said a Mr. Lacour has filed a claim against the city and her law firm concerning old tickets; she has consulted outside counsel about dismissing those claims. Childs also noted a new Tort Claim law recently went into effect and said she will keep the council informed.
On federal funds, Childs said the FBI has not yet released Crowd Control money to the city because required filings remain outstanding; she plans to wait another week before contacting the FBI again. She reported the tire plant title is cleared and filed. Regarding the Kratos project, Childs said it is “still moving forward,” that she has spoken to Mark McGuire Brothers and the Ross Group, and that several grants have been secured to support the project.
