Council OKs East 8th street closures and multi-year holiday lighting contracts

The Bristow City Council approved two temporary street closures on East 8th Street (Main to Alley) for community holiday events: Nov. 20, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the Christmas Tree Lighting and Bristow Bucks; and Dec. 4, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for Shopping on Main. Motions for both closures passed on unanimous roll calls.
The council also approved agreements with David Ballard, C/O Comets Custom Christmas Lights. The approved contracts pay $2,000 for lighting the large Christmas tree this year and $1,200 for each of the next three years. A second agreement covers lighting for the Dealership, Masonic Lounge, and Administration Building at $4,700 this year and $3,000 for each of the following three years. Claims #20170 ($2,000) and #20169 ($4,700) were approved and paid from the Capital Improvement Street Department Fund.
