The Nevis Public School District board on June 22 authorized submission of materials to the Minnesota Commissioner of Education to place a three-question referendum before voters totaling $17,575,000. The board approved the step by roll call vote; all members present voted yes.
The ballot language adopted by the board lists three separate questions: Question 1 would authorize up to $11,100,000 for acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities including career and technical education (CTE) spaces, new classrooms, secure entrances, cafeteria and restroom upgrades, and deferred maintenance; Question 2 would authorize up to $6,050,000 for a multi-purpose physical education space, fitness area, restrooms and additional parking; Question 3 would authorize up to $425,000 for construction and equipping of a bus maintenance building. The resolution records that the three questions together total $17,575,000.
The board made the action part of its capital planning process and authorized Superintendent Ranae Seykora to submit the required Review and Comment paperwork to the Commissioner of Education. While the minutes record the boards unanimous approval, the meeting record includes both references to presenting the questions to voters on November 3, 2026 and a later line calling a special election on November 26; district documents should be consulted to confirm the final election calendar and ballot language before public outreach.
The board also included an agreement with PMA Securities related to issuance; the board minutes list fees or amounts associated with PMA as $17,575 and $8,200 in the consent package, and the district should confirm the intended fees and bonding amounts in the final financing documents.
