ION Environmental reports Plant B power loss, says service restored

At the Sept. 3 Carbon Cliff Board meeting, Vince of ION Environmental reported a brief power loss at Plant B on Aug. 29 that was restored the same night; the firm submitted EPA-required bacteria-sampling and chemical-containment documentation and is arranging containments at both plants.
At the Carbon Cliff Board of Trustees meeting Sept. 3, Vince of ION Environmental told trustees that Plant A was operating normally and that Plant B experienced a power interruption on Aug. 29 that was resolved overnight. "Plant B lost a leg of the three-phase power on the 29th, and MidAmerican got power restored that night," Vince said, and he told the board Britton Electronics bypassed a switch to get Well No. 4 back into service.
Vince also said ION submitted a bacteria-sampling plan to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and provided a general response letter addressing chemical containment as part of the agency's inspection requirements. He added the firm is working with the village's chemical supplier to obtain and install containments at both plants. Village Director Nick Gottwalt was present for the update and did not report service outages to residents.
