Board OKs $80,180 grant-funded contract with American Institutes for Research

The Carbondale Elementary School District No. 95 board on Dec. 19 approved a grant-funded contract with the American Institutes for Research (AIR) to deliver a school-level needs assessment at Parrish and Thomas schools for the 2024–25 academic year in the amount of $80,180. Trustee Renada Greer moved the contract and Trustee Stacye Saunders seconded; the board approved the limited contract on roll call.
Superintendent Janice Pavelonis had earlier noted the Illinois State Board of Education provides state funding for districts to commission a needs assessment and that the AIR agreement is the vehicle the district will use to conduct that work. The assessment will feed school improvement planning and is funded through state-directed grant dollars, per the superintendent’s report.
