Volunteers warn trees at temporary Springs Plaza need planting within 5–6 months; council to revisit relocation plan

Volunteers supporting the temporary Springs Plaza told the council the trees currently held in containers will not survive long-term without planting. Joseph Broseicher reported that watering is time-intensive and that "The trees must be planted somewhere in the ground within the next 5 to 6 months" or they will not survive. He and other volunteers asked the county and MAC to help recruit watering volunteers and consider permanent planting sites.
County staff and the supervisor discussed options. A regional parks official indicated parks could find locations to plant the trees; the supervisor said staff can seek a realistic timeline and suggested potentially moving one tree into the Springs as a visible placemaker. Council members generally supported coordinating with regional parks and returning a short agenda item in June with a plan and timeline. Volunteers said they would continue watering while the county seeks a permanent location but asked for quicker clarification so they can plan volunteer capacity.
