Richfield board adopts six-year strategic plan, calls it 'Richfield Rising'

The Richfield School Board voted Aug. 3 to adopt a six-year strategic plan, "Richfield Rising," that the administration described as the product of a yearlong community engagement process. Superintendent Stevenowski said the planning work included phased community surveys and targeted summer outreach to amplify multilingual and BIPOC voices.
"We started in October with a study session, did a phase 1 community survey, a phase 2 community survey, a drafting... we got a 137 responses in our summer school," Stevenowski said, describing the outreach and feedback that shaped the plan. The superintendent told the board the plan will be reformatted and translated, and that administrators will develop measures and "vision cards" and return with baseline data.
Clerk Ken Liss moved to accept the plan and the board approved it on a voice vote. The board discussed next steps including study sessions on measures, possible additional study sessions, and a timeline to collect five years of baseline data and demographically disaggregated measures to track progress.
The superintendent described the plan's priority areas as academic programming and outcomes, student activities and community engagement, climate and well-being, staff and resource management, communication and community trust, and enrollment. Administration will bring specific measurement proposals to a study session for board input.
