Student representatives report arts, athletics and grading concerns

Gavin Chabica (Maple Grove Senior High) noted boys’ basketball playoff progress and state qualifiers, and also described teacher-run analysis of learner-focused grading that showed disproportionate negative impacts on lower-performing students; Chabica urged the board to commission a larger dataset analysis and to survey parents for feedback.
The student reports were received by the board and were followed by a superintendent’s report and public-comment period.
