District unveils Osseo Senior High renovation plan, officials say project will finish by Fall 2026

The Osseo Public School District on March 18 presented a renovation and addition project for Osseo Senior High that officials said will begin in summer 2025 and be completed in time for the 2026 fall semester.

John Morstan, the district’s executive director of finance and operations, walked the board through interior and exterior changes: a single exterior addition, a larger parking and loading area on the south side, a secure vestibule at the main entry, media-center modernization, a new school store, renovated health-science labs and expanded athletic locker rooms. Morstan said the plan expands the current wrestling space by roughly 500 square feet by moving the program into the former automotive area and converts other instructional spaces to improve career and technical education lab capacity.

Morstan said the construction will start this summer and run through 2026, and asked the board to approve bid awards on the consent agenda. “More to come, and, of course, the we saved the best for last, which is under budget,” he said. The presentation included conceptual interior images and floor plans and noted the cafeteria will expand into the existing weight-room area with bifold doors and glazing to create flexible, quieter dining spaces.

The board had brief, positive comments about visualizations and progress. No formal funding vote on the project occurred during the meeting; the presentation preceded consent-agenda motion language referring generally to construction bid approvals. The district projected construction completion in time for the fall 2026 school year and that the project is currently estimated to come in below budget.
