Creekside students premiere Magnolia Project film; Presswood pupils share memories as school transitions

Creekside High presented the Magnolia Project — a career-exploration program funded through district equity funds — and showed a student-produced short film. Presswood Elementary students and principal Laura Thomas shared memories and traditions as the school approaches closure/transition.
Liz Liscum, principal of Creekside High School, told the Sonoma Valley Unified board that the Magnolia Project used equity-multiplier funding and classroom career exploration to place students into nine pathways, including construction, solar engineering and film production. "The experience began in English classrooms where teachers facilitated career exploration, interest surveys, and reflective activities," Liscum said.
Several Creekside students described pathway experiences, and the district screened The Most Vulnerable Player, a short film written, filmed and produced by eight students. At Presswood Elementary, principal Laura Thomas said the school "has been a place where memories have been made and connections have been formed," and students from Presswood shared favorite memories, field trips and traditions before singing their school song. The presentations concluded with trustees thanking students and staff for their work and community support.
