Councilmembers told staff to revive local e-bike ordinance work after repeated complaints about children riding e-bikes in parks and downtown areas. Mayor Sladek (S2) said the county and state had paused work and council should re-open local consideration now that school is starting. Staff said a revised draft is being worked through and would be circulated to council members for review.
Separately, council agreed to explore allowing the League of Women Voters to use city space for a nonpartisan presentation on constitutional amendments; council emphasized the event should be independent (not city-run) and could be held in council chambers or another city facility. S2 described the League as a neutral option to provide public education and asked staff to coordinate scheduling.
