Council to consider deleting code that prohibits backing into angled spaces on Citizen Lane

City staff told the council on Aug. 3 that Citizen Lane has reverse-angle parking and that the current code includes a prohibition on backing into angled spaces. The recommended remedy is deletion of section 42-3. S3 told council that after attempts to distinguish forward and reverse angle parking in code text, staff concluded deletion was the cleanest fix and recommended scheduling a public hearing for Aug. 17, 2026.
Council moved and voted to set the hearing date; the clerk called the roll and the motion carried. Councilmembers said they had tested the reverse-angle layout and voiced support for removing the conflicting code language to match the intended street design.
