Patricia Pope named artist for Oviedo 'Art in the Chambers' exhibit

The Oviedo City Council opened its Aug. 3 meeting by introducing Patricia Pope as the latest artist in the city’s Art in the Chambers program. S6, speaking on behalf of the Oviedo Public Arts Board, presented Pope and invited her to describe her work to the council.
Pope told the council she works in silk painting and batik and combines methods to create layered pieces pinned to PVC supports. "I do silk paintings and batik," she said, describing a layered fish piece that uses batik and silk-painting layers. She thanked the council for the opportunity to exhibit in the chambers and said she hopes the program helps other Oviedo artists gain exposure.
