CES95 board accepts midyear financial report; addresses custodial contractor issues at middle school

The Carbondale Elementary School District No. 95 board heard a midyear financial review Jan. 23 showing districtwide expenditures at about 47% of budgeted amounts through December and that the district has received roughly 72% of budgeted revenues to date. Janiece Blake, the district’s Chief School Business Official, told trustees staff will amend Fund 30 before fiscal year end to address an overage in that fund.
Blake also reported ongoing custodial service issues at Carbondale Middle School related to the contractor HES. She said she met with two HES St. Louis office representatives, requested that two HES night custodians at CMS be relieved of duty, and that the request was granted; district hires are being onboarded and HES employees’ last day is Jan. 31. "Collectively across all funds as of the end of December we are at 47% of budgeted expenditures," Blake said. "I requested that two of their night custodians at CMS be relieved of their duties, and as of today that request has been granted."
School officials said Fund 30 will be adjusted with a budget amendment at year end. The board approved the meeting agenda and consent items, including the financial reports, by roll-call votes with all members present voting yes.
