Board reviews $90M-plus Maple Grove Senior High renovation; mechanical work to use Sourcewell cooperative

Osseo Area Schools leaders presented detailed renderings and a phased plan for the Maple Grove Senior High renovation and expansion, describing a three-story academic addition, an enlarged cafeteria and a dedicated CTE wing and strength/conditioning space.
Executive Director John Morrissette said the overall project is "a little over $90,000,000 as a total" and noted the district used a Sourcewell cooperative agreement to secure pricing for approximately one-third of the work. "So about about $30,000,000 of the project a provider via Sourcewell," Morrissette said, explaining the cooperative method guarantees a price level for the mechanical portion and makes scheduling and vendor selection more predictable.
Renderings shown to the board included a new secure front entry and an expanded media center and cafeteria; the design adds roughly 21 classrooms in the academic addition and upgrades kitchen capacity to five serving lines. Morrissette said work will begin in stages (with some work starting the Monday after spring break) and that the district will aim to complete major construction before student return in fall 2026 where possible while managing in-session work for some trades.
