InGensa consultant: site-work bid exceeds budget; retaining wall must come first

Jorden Pangrac of InGensa told the Floodwood Public School District Facilities Committee that the single Site Work bid received for the Facility Improvement Project "came in at a much higher amount than was budgeted," and described options to break the work into a base scope plus three alternatives covering the parking area, childcare drop-off area and loading dock.
"Priority is to complete the retaining wall as the structure is failing and presents future safety issues," Pangrac said, identifying the retaining wall as the most urgent element the committee should fund. He said some contractors who attended the pre-bid meeting declined to submit bids, citing the project's size and the distance and expense of obtaining and disposing of materials.
Pangrac described a plan for InGensa to reach out to contractors to solicit proposals that break the project into components so the district can award work that aligns with budget constraints while addressing the most critical needs. The committee did not take a formal vote; members were told the board will review Pangrac's recommendations at a May 28, 2026 special meeting.
