The Sulphur Springs Union School District Board reported on Aug. 28 that, in a First Closed Session earlier that evening, trustees approved a settlement agreement and a purchase-and-sale agreement with Tri Pointe Homes.
Board President Ken Chase announced the outcome when the Board reconvened to open session at 7:37 PM, saying the Board "addressed the settlement agreement and agreement for purchase and sale between the District and Tri Pointe Homes and voted 4 to 0 to approve the agreement." The roll-call vote noted Mrs. Paola Jellings was absent for that earlier vote. The Board later recessed again to a Second Closed Session for additional matters and, after reconvening, adjourned at 10:08 PM.
The action was taken in closed session under the cited Government Code provision for anticipated litigation; the Board's public report identifies only the existence of the settlement and the voting result. No financial terms, property address or further contract details were disclosed in the open minutes. The district's next meeting will present unaudited actuals on Sept. 11, 2024, where staff may provide further context.
