WEM athletics, One-Act and music programs head into postseason and spring events

Activities Director Jeff Boran told the board that girls basketball finished the regular season 8–17 overall and 5–7 in the Gopher Conference and traveled as the No. 11 seed to Section 2AA quarterfinal play Feb. 23. Boys basketball was reported at 9–14 overall with a 7–6 conference record and section seeding scheduled for Feb. 25. Wrestling finished the dual-meet season 12–13 and placed second in the Section 2A team tournament; five individual wrestlers advanced to state.
Boran also reported that the WEM One-Act Play placed second in the subsection and advanced to sections, and listed band, choir and art students who participated in the Gopher Conference honors events. Spring activities were scheduled to begin in March, with 7–12 track and field practice and softball and baseball practices starting the week of March 9–16 per MSHSL timelines. Principal Brandon Tagg also noted parent–teacher conferences on Feb. 23 and a band and choir concert on Feb. 24.
