Sulphur Springs Union and six schools earn U.S. News and California Honor Roll recognition

Superintendent Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi and the Board of Trustees recognized Fair Oaks Ranch, Golden Oak, Leona Cox, Mint Canyon, Pinetree and Valley View Community Schools for U.S. News Best Schools recognition and named Golden Oak, Leona Cox, Pinetree and Fair Oaks Ranch as recipients of the 2024 California Honor Roll.
Dr. Kawaguchi also presented the Board with a plaque announcing that the Sulphur Springs Union School District earned the 2024 California Honor Roll Award, a statewide recognition based on 2024 CAASPP student outcome data. The minutes state that 1,823 schools received the California Honor Roll recognition (about 21% of eligible schools) and 168 districts — roughly 22% of eligible districts — earned the district-level honor.
Board members and administrators emphasized the work of staff and principals in narrowing achievement gaps and accelerating learning among historically disadvantaged student populations; the district will continue to present details on these outcomes in future materials.
