Board recognizes students, coaches and staff with district awards

Cherokee County School District recognized student-athletes, academic achievers, state champions, and district staff with Crystal Apple awards and other honors for recent months; the meeting included multiple named student and staff recognitions.
The board recognized a range of student and staff accomplishments from March and April. Honors included Special Olympics athletes (Elementary Athlete of the Year Cameron Wright; middle-school athlete Jacory Bates; high-school athlete Jamille Gregory), district perfect-test scorers (Riley Cloninger, Alyssa Sisk, Nathan Martin, Addison Loan), Palmetto Gold and Unified Champion awards for schools, and the district spelling-bee winner, Elena Porter.
District coaches and administrators were also honored: coach Dave Raines was named coach of the year, the Gaffney High School strength team was recognized as Division 2A state champions, and multiple Crystal Apple awards were presented to April Barnhill, Tracy Dill and others. Board members congratulated the recipients and announced upcoming picture-taking and celebrations.
