Katherine Johnson moved "to uphold the Superintendent’s recommendation of dismissal," and Trish Walker seconded the motion. There was no discussion before the roll-call vote, which recorded Janece Payne, Alan Nidiffer, Trish Walker, Katherine Johnson and Jay Trost as voting "aye." The motion passed 5-0.
The board recessed to Executive Session No. 1 at 11:02 a.m. "pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(b), to consider the dismissal or disciplining of, or to hear complaints or charges brought against, a public officer, employee, staff member, or individual agent who does not request an open hearing," and returned to public session at 12:09 p.m. Minutes and the public record do not identify the employee or provide additional specifics about the dismissal; the board noted only that the superintendent had made a recommendation and that the board upheld it.
