The Yellow Medicine East School Board on April 13 adopted Policy 701, the School District Budget, on its second reading and approved the district's Capital Outlay and Long-Term Facility Maintenance budgets for 2026–27.
Board members also approved insurance rates and plan options for the 2026–27 year. The motion to "approve insurance rates and options for 2026-2027, as submitted" carried after a motion by Abbey Richter and second by Ron Winter. Superintendent Rich Schneider had presented the monthly bond portfolio report earlier in the meeting as part of finance-related items.
Board Chair Jeremy LeBlanc said the approvals allow district staff to proceed with final budget implementation and required filings. The board listed upcoming finance-related dates, including a Finance Committee meeting on April 15 and a bid opening on April 30.
