YME board accepts multiple resignations, approves several hires and new roles

The Yellow Medicine East board accepted resignations from four staff members and approved several new hires and volunteer coaching appointments during its March 9 meeting.
Minutes record that the board accepted resignations of Amy Chandler (elementary teacher), Stan Sebring (MS/HS paraprofessional), Julie Jaenisch (dance coach) and Chris Nerdahl (dance coach). Those motions were made by Amanda Lecy, seconded by Abbey Richter, and carried with Matt Zempel recorded as abstaining on those resignation votes. The board then approved employment of Megan Wolfe (long-term substitute elementary teacher), Laurie Hangen (long-term substitute social worker for 2026–27), Javon Hering (assistant golf coach) and volunteer Trevor Schulte (baseball), and approved the creation of a Social Media & Website Coordinator position.
The personnel actions were handled as separate motions across the agenda. The minutes show the board approved the hires and position creation by motions from Sonja Pederson, Amanda Lecy and Abbey Richter; votes are recorded as carried, with explicit abstentions noted only for the resignations noted above.
