The Sunnyside–Tahoe City Parks & Recreation committee on Oct. 5 received a high‑level review of the draft 2025 operating and capital priorities and was told the figures are provisional.
"These are draft budgets. We expect the numbers to change," said Kim Boyd, who introduced the budget review and turned the presentation over to department staff. Presenter staff summarized that strategic priorities largely carry over from the prior year, while operational work will emphasize public health and safety at parks and continued support for projects such as a proposed skate park and Kilner Park improvements. Staff noted several items will be carried over to 2025 pending further decisions and funding, and that the board will see updated, more detailed presentations before final budget adoption.
Why it matters: staff flagged several contingent or carryover items — special‑studies line items that historically do not all spend their budgeted amounts, the irrigation replacement at the golf course, and operations planning for the Tahoe City Community Center — meaning the committee will revisit allocations as new information arrives. Committee members were told there is no action on the budget today; a public budget workshop is scheduled for Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. in the same room with online participation.
