At the council meeting Sheila Lynn Smith said balls from a nearby ballfield have repeatedly damaged her home, breaking windows and creating holes in siding. "I am here regarding my house being destroyed by the ball field," she said and described multiple incidents dating back to 2023, including two broken garage windows and a cracked rear glass that cost roughly $330 to replace.
Smith asked for the city’s help getting a net raised to the middle post and said Coliseum staff had discussed a net and the need for bucket-truck assistance. Coliseum staff and council members responded that they would follow up: one staff member said, "I'll get with Lanny tomorrow on this," and council/staff said they would evaluate options, possible costs and the need for bucket-truck work to raise netting.
Smith said the damage has had ongoing personal and financial impacts; staff committed to reviewing photos and coordinating with Coliseum operations about netting and maintenance.
