Board hears update on immigration response workgroup, staff outline protocol and supports
Summary

Chief Communications Officer Christine Andregg and Director of Student Services Denise Wright briefed the board on the districts Immigration Response workgroup at the May 27 work session.
The presenters — joined by Principal Ali Marks, Transportation Director Suzanne Cummings, and district social worker Amanda Boman-Mejia — said the cross-functional group met through the winter and spring to identify needs, strengthen practices, and develop recommendations aligned with current law and district policies. Staff highlighted actions including refining immigration response protocols and staff training, improving communication systems and notification processes, expanding supports and affinity spaces for students and staff, and increasing resource access for families.
Staff outlined ongoing work for 2026 27 such as continued training, updates to public-facing resources, alignment with new legislation, and additional preparedness and rights-education opportunities. The board received the report and asked questions but took no formal action.
