Cascade High School will add boys volleyball as an OSAA-sponsored varsity sport after the Board of Education voted unanimously Jan. 12 to approve the proposal. Principal Rasmussen said the program has run as a club for the last two years and that moving to OSAA varsity status will require budgeting for equipment, travel and league fees.
Rasmussen estimated a first-year cost around $10,000 and reported 12–16 students currently interested; the program may draw athletes from track or baseball. The resolution to add boys volleyball was moved by Spencer Rockwell, seconded by Ruth Stevens, and the minutes record "Motion Carried (all voted yes)."
