Cascade SD approves new K–12 health curriculum for 2026–2032 cycle

Director of Education William Dyer presented the recommendation and told the board the adoption could be implemented partially this year with full implementation next school year. "K–5 is going with The Great Body Shop," Dyer said, and he described grades 6–8 and 9–12 using LiveWell materials for vertical alignment.
Board members asked about cost. Dyer estimated adoption costs "somewhere around $80,000–$90,000," and noted that the figure varies because not every grade requires a full new set of materials. The board moved and adopted the resolution by voice vote with no recorded roll-call tally.
District staff said teachers would begin piloting materials this year, with the full curriculum rollout planned for next school year. The board packet lists the titles adopted and supporting materials; trustees said they would follow up if further cost breakdowns are needed.
