Junior high staff push AVID strategies, critical reading and math fact fluency to raise student stamina

"Interactive notebooks is definitely an avid strategy that starts clear with our elementary kiddos, so we definitely pursue it and keep it going in the junior highs," the presenter said. The junior high also plans renewed emphasis on math fact fluency (weekly practice across grades) and cross‑grade identification to make sure advanced students are pushed into higher courses earlier rather than being missed at transitions. Staff said they will use iReady and teacher judgment together to catch students who should be accelerated.
