The district's Director of Technology reported the deployment of KnowBe4 phishing awareness training and the results of the first simulated campaign: "Cascade only had 6% of our staff that clicked on the link," he said, while noting the initial test was not a highly sophisticated phishing message. The director said the Center for Internet Security (CIS) audit finds the district in good shape relative to peers, though some CIS best practices present tradeoffs in an education environment.
On infrastructure, the director said the district currently uses a ShoreTel/Mitel phone system that will lose vendor support in roughly three years and outlined tradeoffs between a hosted service and an on‑premises replacement. He noted some classroom and office cell coverage gaps make desk phones still valuable for reliability during emergencies and that any replacement must weigh capital and annual operating costs before a decision is made.
