The Alexandria Township Board of Education voted to adopt a tentative budget for the 2026–2027 school year totaling $13,174,307 at its March 18 meeting.
Motioned by Board member Renee Bagley and seconded by Caterina Dobak, the budget lists General Fund revenues of $12,091,870, Special Revenue of $127,187 and Debt Service of $955,250. Taxes to be raised were listed as $11,320,365. The Board included an adjustment for increased health-benefit costs of $367,191 and a banked-cap adjustment of $26,707. The Board also included a $165,000 maintenance reserve withdrawal earmarked for art room flooring and cabinetry replacement and Room 6 flooring replacement.
The board certified compliance with N.J.S.A.18A:7F-5 and 18A:7F-6 and authorized the Secretary to submit the tentative budget to the Executive County Superintendent. A public hearing on the budget was scheduled for May 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Alexandria Township School.
The roll-call vote to adopt the tentative budget recorded YES - 7, NO - 1, ABSENT - 1; the motion passed. The board also recorded and explained travel and reimbursement limits in the budget: a maximum travel expenditure of $20,000 for board and staff, with an $80,000 line included for travel and related expense reimbursements for the year.
